Nerf Blaster – Nerf Guns

Nerf is a registered trademark that covers the type of material used to create Nerf products (a soft foam material) and the range of products that have been inspired by the material. Initially these products were balls and “things you could throw” - sports goods in short. The brand changed dramatically when the concept of the Nerf blaster or Nerf gun was invented. The blaster effectively was a tool that fired the Nerf balls much like a firearm might fire a bullet. The blasters evolved to the extent that the balls became shaped like a bullet or a dart. The dart gave the operator of the blaster more accuracy than a plain old ball. And the dart blaster was born.

Nerf blasters can be used in organized events, much like paint ball, where teams have to battle each other to capture a flag or some other objective. These games instill strategic thinking and teamwork into the players and are great fun too. And of course it requires that you learn how to handle and fire your Nerf gun with skill and accuracy. Nerf blasters can also be used to mess around with friends without anything particularly organized. This range of activities are sometimes referred to as Nerf wars.

Nerf Blasters In Detail

Nerf blasters are now generally categorized into two distinct lines based on the type of ammunition that they fire.

The N-Strike line is probably the most popular and includes the Raider CS 35 and the Vulcan. These guns fire Nerf darts and are quite elaborate replicas of real firearms. For instance they have automatic fire capabilities and clip and magazine ammunition delivery systems.

The second category is known as the dart tag series. The ammunition for the dart tag guns has velcro tips so that the darts will stick to clothing or specially designed body vests. These guns are generally used for more organized events where it is necessary to be able to confirm that a person has been hit.   

This site deals with the N-strike range of products, in particular the NERF N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35. This is an original gun, in that it has an automatic (or slam shot) function that is completed powered by human power. The operator pumps the stock to generate air pressure that is used to fire each individual dart (much like an air rifle). By depressing the trigger and keeping it pressed, a dart will be fired each time the stock is pumped. This give the gun an automatic capability which is only limited by the amount of ammunition in the weapon and the speed at which the firer can pump. As the name of the gun suggests, it can be loaded with a maximum of 35 rounds in a drum like magazine. Many of the components of the gun, like the stock can be adjusted for the individual using the gun. And things like the magazine can be transferred to other N-Strike weapons like the Vulcan.
